Various YouTube channels I'd reccommend, from all sorts of types of channels.
- ASMR KittyKlaw: Russian ASMRist, but has decent English subtitles. Mostly does things like trigger compliations and ASMR roleplays. She does a lot of cosplay videos.
- ASMR Relax: Does things like personal attention videos, occasional roleplays (the Barbie ones are great), gum chewing, and reading trivia. I also really like her try-on hauls/lookbook videos.
- Batala's ASMR: Lots and lots of personal attention type videos, a lot of mouth sounds, occasional psuedo-roleplays (the "asking personal questions" videos are amazing), etc.
- Catplant ASMR: All over the place, but her older ASMR roleplays and game collection videos are great.
- choa asmr: A mukbang/eating ASMR channel. Her compliations of her weirder food videos are my favorite.
- PierreG ASMR: A French ASMRist but he does videos in a lot of languages. I can't really pinpoint what all he does, it tends to be all over the place.
- Prince of ASMR: Another mukbang/eating channel, sometimes he does other stuff though. I found him through a different ASMR channel and now I watch him more than the one I found him through.
- SAS-ASMR: Yet another mukbang/eating channel. I haven't watched her in awhile but I really liked her older videos. Still good now though.
- The ASMR Ryan: All over the place, but has some pretty comedic ASMR roleplays. I personally really like his collections videos.
- The White Rabbit ASMR: Mostly ASMR roleplays. I like her 80s one the most, the character she has for those is really good.
- Valeriya ASMR: Another foreign ASMRist, I think she's Russian too, but she mostly makes videos in English. Kind of sexual in her videos but they're still good, tend to be all over the place.
- YoungPrince ASMR: General all-around ASMRist, but I like his gameplay videos the best because of the controller sounds. His barber roleplays are good too.
- A+Start: Home of the series "Son of a Glitch". Talks about various glitches, from useful to downright game breaking.
- Acai: Mostly rhythm games, especially Clone Hero (PC-based Guitar Hero clone). Has a lot of meme-y type videos.
- AntDude: Gaming reviews and such. He's also done quite a few videos on some strange game mods/fangames, especially for games like Sonic the Hedgehog.
- Bismuth: Talks about speedruns. I found him through his video about the DK64 Tool-Assisted Speedrun. Also has a video about the iconic SM64 0-star TAS.
- brutalmoose: Another reviewer, but he's branched off from just games now. I haven't watched him in a long time, but he was my favorite YouTuber in middle school. The Televoid! series, while I think it's still unfinished, is really, really good.
- Caddicarus: Yet another reviewer. He's got a very, very chaotic sense of humor, and is painfully British. Does a lot of videos on PlayStation titles both good and bad.
- Gamer's Little Playground: Uploads full, really high quality playthroughs of a lot of games with no commentary. Great for if you wanna see a game but don't have the system or the money.
- Karl Jobst: Australian YouTuber. Talks about speedruns and the people that do them. Recently got into a spat with Billy Michael over the whole DK score faking debacle.
- Killysunt: Makes a lot of corruption videos for Wii titles, especially in the Wii Sports/Wii Play/etc series. Sometimes has some tasteless jokes, but they're far and few between.
- Oddheader: A top-ten style channel, but a really interesting one. Talks about discoveries in games the public probably wasn't meant to see, strange Easter eggs, and bizarre mysteries in games that never got solved.
- PeanutButterGamer: Yet another reviewer, does a lot of Nintendo stuff. Kind of a blast from the past considering how long he's been making videos, but he's still great.
- Rerez: A reviewer with a handful of specialities. Namely, bad controllers, terrible knockoff consoles, and generally terrible games.
- RTGame: An Irish YouTuber. Plays all sorts of things, and is often sponsored to play games, even though he uses those games to do horrible things to the little pixel people. He's collabed with a lot of other Irish YouTubers, including jacksepticeye.
- Scarfulhu: Point-and-click reviewer, sometimes branches off into other genres. Introduced me to Sam & Max!
- Shesez: Home of the series "Boundary Break", where he goes in with Magic Camera tools to see what you're not supposed to in games. Does a wide variety of games from all sorts of consoles.
- SHiFT: A speedrunner I really like. Primarily runs Spongebob Squarepants Battle For Bikini Bottom, and is one of the biggest names in that game's speedrunning community.
- SHN Survival Horror Network: Kind of like Gamer's Little Playground but only for horror games. Again, really good if you're interested in a game but can't play it yourself.
- sleepy: Former Overwatch League member, but still good on his own. Mains Ana and Zenyatta, and I find him really funny. His YouTube videos are taken from his Twitch streams, which tend to happen really late at night.
- Summoning Salt: Talks about speedruns of a lot of games in a sort of video essay style. Goes really in depth about different tricks and how they were developed, as well as the evolution of some games' speedrun times.
- The Completionist: A reviewer with kind of a gimmick. He talks about how a game is to 100% and whether it's worth it or not for any completion bonuses. Talks about a lot of games from a lot of genres and consoles.
- WaifuRuns: Another speedrunner. He does a lot of RE speedruns and talks about those games' speedrun records and such, as well as some other games.
- BdoubleO00: Member of the Hermitcraft & Last Life SMPs. I don't watch him as much, but I like his sense of humor and building styles. Tends to hang around Etho, another member of both servers.
- docm77: Another Hermit. He's been bending the rules of how MC works all throughout HCS8, including an octagon shaped, functioning Nether Portal, and "wireless" storage.
- Forge Labs: While not entirely Minecraft, mostly what I watch this guy for is MC. He does a lot of 100-day challenges with various modpacks.
- GoodTimesWithScar: Another Hermit/Last Life guy. Really, really good at building, especially landscaping. Genuinely great dude.
- Grian: Yet another Hermit/LL player, part of the 3rd Life SMP (what LL started as) as well as being part of MCCC twice in a row (and won MCCC17). Very good at building as well, especially large elaborate structures.
- ImpulseSV: ...another Hermit, what can I say? I watch a lot of them. Is currently building a base in HCS8 based on the chocolate factory from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
- Mumbo Jumbo: The Redstone guy, essentially, of Minecraft YouTubers. Also part of the Hermitcraft & Last Life SMPs. Very close buddies with Grian.
- Skip The Tutorial: A Top-10 style channel. Kind of click-baity sometimes but his videos are good for background noise sometimes, and hey, you might genuinely learn a thing or two about MC, who knows.
- TangoTek: One last Hermit. I really liked his HCS7 builds, especially the entire RPG-esque game he made in vanilla Minecraft, but his HCS8 build is really good as well. Quality dude.
- Buzzfeed Unsolved: While not technically a "video essay" type channel, I feel it fits close enough. I know a lot of people already know about them, but I can't reccommend it enough, especially if you're into spooks or true crime.
- Dead Meat: Another 'close enough' deal. He goes through all sorts of horror movies and counts up all the deaths in that movie, while giving brief plot synopses.
- Defunctland: Discusses abandoned Disney, Universal, and other theme park attractions and rides, as well as things like Chuck-E-Cheese. Really hates Michael Eisner.
- Inside A Mind: Talks about ARGs, games sometimes, as well as internet and YouTube oddities. Once did a whole video on brutalmoose's Televoid!.
- Nexpo: Another channel that talks about ARGs, as well as general internet weirdness. Sometimes collabs with similar YouTubers.
- Night Mind: Yet another ARG channel, but has talked about things like 'Unedited Footage of a Bear' and similar videos. Introduced me to the Slenderverse, as well as series like Lasagna Cat and AlanTutorial.
- Offhand Disney: Another Disney-oriented channel. He talks about ride lore, stuff about the parks themselves, and changes coming to the parks.
- PhantomStrider: Another top-ten style channel, but goes really in depth about what he's talking about. Mostly talks about cartoons, both TV shows and movies.
- Ryan Hollinger: Talks about horror movies, especially those on the really scary side of the spectrum. I was introduced to him through his Evil Dead video.
- Theme Park Crazy: Another theme park channel, in a top-ten style. Again not really the most 'video essay'-esque channel, but it fits. Talks about weird, unique, and abandoned theme parks and rides.
- TPMVids: Yet another one skirting by on a technicality. Top-ten style once again, and pretty much only focuses on Disney parks. Talks about secrets, interesting facts, animatronics and their failures, etc.
- Yesterworld Entertainment: On the same lines as Defunctland or Offhand Disney, talking about abandoned ride things and such.
- 8 Bit Universe: Does 8-bit covers of songs from across genres. Like, I'm talking all over the place.
- Lucifer: Does different-Vocaloid covers of Vocaloid songs. Very fond of their various Gakupo covers.
- Ninja Sex Party: I know most people already know NSP, but I can't help but add them. A lot of very satirical songs, mostly about sex, but they have their fair share of slightly more serious songs. Also some really good covers of older songs!
- SIKSHADOW: They make shitpost songs from Resident Evil clips, primarily from RE5 and RE6, and have a strange on-going plotline in their songs about Chris.
- TheRealSullyG: He does otomatone covers of popular songs, both serious and shitpost-y, with really well animated music videos to go along with them.
- CHEFCLUB: Listen. This channel has the most chaotic recipes I've ever watched. They're also really good to watch to space out to.
- Chocolate Cacao チョコレートカカオ: A very passionate Japanese man making all sorts of chocolates, cakes, and sweets.
- DancingBacons: Makes videos about Asian foods in a variety of ways. Snacks, festival street foods, vending machines, etc.
- MosoGourmet 妄想グルメ: Another Japanese cooking channel. They focus mostly on sweets, cakes, and candies.
- So Yummy: Another channel with kind of chaotic, click-baity recipes, that I mostly use to just space out to.
- Steve1998MREInfo: A dude tries all sorts of MREs from various countries and eras. I'm not sure why I like his videos so much, but they're fun from time to time.
- y.na__homecafe: One of those home cafe channels, they make all sorts of fancy layered drinks. Has a thing for Snoopy themed stuff.
- Aliantos: Home to one of the most surreal shitpost series I've ever watched, based entirely around goddamn King of the Hill. Well edited but god they're weird.
- Marshal Does Stuff: Variety creator, but a lot of it is kinda meme-y. He did collabs with SootHouse when they were still active.
- SootHouse: While they haven't been active in ages, they're good background binge material. A handful of friends go through Reddit, read and comment on memes, stuff like that. I promise they're funny.
- 気まぐれゲーム: I genuinely cannot tell if these are intended to be serious or they're shitposting, but from my POV they're shitposts. They take MMD models of various Resident Evil characters and put them in popular dance motions.
- everymanHYBRID: One of the remaining Slenderverse series. The YouTube channel only has parts of the story, as it was a multi-site series, but the YT is still important.
- Marble Hornets: The OG Slenderverse series. It's been over for almost 8 years now, but the story still holds up. A series I hold near and dear to my heart.
- MLAndersen0: A smaller SV series, but a good one none the less. Not technically over, just on a very, very long haitus. Has a lot of lore-ties to EMH.
- This Room Does Not Exist: A strange ARG I learned about through a Nexpo video. Kinda weird future-y story, but I haven't watched it in a long time.
- Chris Ramsay: He solves puzzles and puzzle boxes. Really interesting when he gets one of the big themed boxes.
- Dollightful: Customizes dolls, mostly using Monster High dolls as the base. A lot of them are incredibly detailed and wonderfully done.
- jacksfilms: Another probably well known channel, but I just think he's neat. Has two primariy series he's known for, YIAY and YGS.
- japanesestuffchannel: Showcases interesing Japanese things, such as toys, gachapon prizes, food, and various other things.
- RRcherrypie: Channel very similar to the previous one, but focuses a lot more on toys and such.
- "Spongebob Squarepants: The Skin Theory" by Doug Woolever: A strange theory on this one, odd trend throughout early seasons of Spongebob. Really makes you think, even though you probably don't want to.
- "The Squilliam Theory", "The Television Theory", "The Mrs. Puff Theory", and "The Evolution Theory" by Alex Bale: More Spongebob theories, I know, I know. But god, they're so fascinating to watch. Each one feels more insane than the last.
- "The Spongehenge Theory" by Karsten Runquist: Yes, yes, more Spongebob, but listen, this episode always sat weird with me, so this video kinda helped that.
- "Hank of the Hill (Re-Upload)" posted by Canned Bread, original by DurhamrockerZ: A very, very chaotic KOTH YouTube Poop. I swear it left me and my friends in stitches when we first saw it.
- "Cat Groove" by Peardian: A stupid animation of various Animal Crossing cats dancing, pre-ACNH. I just think it's funny.
- "BRODYQUEST" by Neil Cicierega: I know most people have seen this. It's an internet classic. But if you haven't, for the love of god, watch this video.
- "punching dracula" by kmlkmljkl: It's a ten-second Castlevania anime shitpost. What more do you want from me?
- "Randy buys a bookshelf off Gumtree" posted by 1234567890tgb, originally from "Randy Writes A Novel": Nothing, and I mean nothing, will ever prepare you for this if you've never seen or heard it before. Please go in as blind as possible.
- "[Tetris 99] to the beat" by Doremy: I just like this video because it's just strangely satisfying.
- "Sonic The" by Xploshi: I have no words about this video. It makes no sense. It's confusing. It's Sonic the Hedgehog. That's all I got.
- "Ah, The Scalene Triangle" by InfamousInfidel: Ah, the scalene triangle. Ah, the scalene triange. Ah, the scalene triangle.
- "A deep dive into the Spongebob Iceberg" by Cadency: About Spongebob stuff, covering all sorts from weird things in-show to strange things found in games to things the fanbase has done.
- "Gen Z Childhood trauma Iceberg (full series)" by Raymundo 2112: A dive into weird Internet things folks of Gen Z would understand that probably creeped us out as a kid.
- "The Creepy/Weird Youtube Iceberg Explained" by Alex Gus: Sort of like the previous one, but more specifically about YouTube oddities we've all probably witnessed and wondered what the hell was going on.
- "The Bible Theory Iceberg Explained", "The Religion & Cult Iceberg Explained", and "The Disturbing Movie Iceberg Explained (GRAPHIC CONTENT)" by Wendigoon: While I enjoy a lot of Wendigoon's content, I feel like these three are the top of his content. Each one is really interesting and he's surprisingly objective in a lot of cases, but admits to throwing his own theories into the mix as he talks about them.
